CELLOMELLO:  A small creative world where melody, story and heart meet. Joanna's songs move between cinematic ballads, operatic requiems, and bright, humorous pieces written for friends, birthdays and life’s little milestones.

WHY
Cellomello

The name Cellomello grew from a lighthearted moment years ago while sharing a bottle of limoncello with a dear friend in India. Joanna was affectionately nicknamed “Cello,” and the name stayed close.

Over time it took on a life of its own — musical, warm and slightly whimsical. Cellomello became the perfect name for Joanna’s creative world: a blend of music, melody, friendship, storytelling and heart.

Santiago De La Luz

A tender love song written for my darling son, James — a reminder that love matters more than status, plans, or money. It holds the light of him: the bond, the pride, and the love that doesn’t end.

There's No Place Like Home

A nostalgic song for anyone who’s lived far from where they began — missing familiar hills, voices, weather, and the feeling of “your own place.” There are versions in different languages, because homesickness is one of the most universal stories we carry.

Song for Golf

A playful, tongue-in-cheek look at the beautiful “addiction” of golf — the highs, the lows, the hope that returns on the very next swing. For anyone who’s ever sworn they’re done… and then booked the next tee time.

The Music
(What You’ll Hear)

Untitled-2-3.png

Joanna’s catalogue is intentionally wide — because life is wide.

You’ll find heartfelt, cinematic ballads and operatic, choral-leaning pieces that explore love, memory and the tenderness of missing someone. You’ll also find playful songs created for celebrations and special occasions — the kind of music that turns an ordinary day into a story worth keeping.

If you simply want to press play and feel what you feel, that’s perfect. And if you like knowing the meaning behind a song, you’ll hear it in the lyrics — shared gently, with care.

LANGUAGES AND INFLUENCES

Having studied French and Italian at university, Joanna enjoys writing in several languages — including English, Italian, French and Spanish. Her work is shaped by an international life: Scottish heritage, an Australian home, and vivid memories of India.

That mix of places and languages brings a distinctive texture to the music — sometimes intimate and spare, sometimes theatrical and sweeping, always human.

About JOANNA

Born in Bombay and originally from Scotland, Joanna has loved music for as long as she can remember. From a young age she played piano, oboe and guitar, and throughout her life she has continued composing music and writing lyrics inspired by love, loss, friendship, beauty and the human spirit.

In 2024, Joanna experienced the loss of her beloved son, James. In the midst of grief, she found her way back to music, painting and storytelling — creating work that holds space for remembrance and healing, while still making room for warmth, humour and the friendships that carry us.

Today, Joanna writes to help people feel less alone. Some songs invite quiet reflection; others are made to lift the mood and spark a smile. All of them are written with the same intention: to connect.

Thank you for being here. Whether you come for comfort, hope, reflection, joy or laughter. I hope you’ll find a song that meets you where you are.
